I want to begin with “thank you”. Thank you for your prayers for your church during the past many months. Thank you for your commitment to serving Jesus and his church. And thank you for your strong support of your church board’s leadership and hard work by calling us to serve as your next Lead Pastoral family.
We are so excited for the opportunity to serve Jesus and his mission along with you at Wichita First!
For the past 7+ years I’ve served as the Lead Pastor of Real Life Community Church of the Nazarene in Portage, IN, a suburb of Chicago. Since leading Real Life, we’ve pioneered an innovative discipleship model, baptized hundreds, launched multiple Life Groups, and given away over $1 Million dollars to local and global initiatives that serve the poor and do justice (Micah 6:8, Jeremiah 29:7) in Jesus’ name. What I think I love most though is that we created an environment unchurched people love to attend. Their hunger for God has been palpable. The gospel is such incredibly good news in a bad news world.
Prior to leading Real Life, I led Trinity Church of the Nazarene in Florissant, MO, a St Louis suburb next door to Ferguson. Prior to that I was on staff at several Churches (VA, MO and a church on 1400 E Kellogg in Wichita, KS you’ve likely heard of). Andrea and I both attended Mid-America Nazarene University. I double-majored in Religion and Business, Andrea in Communication. I also received my Master’s in Christian Education from Nazarene Theological Seminary.
I am passionate about helping people with little or no church background connect with Jesus and the church and help them become deeply devoted followers of Jesus. Seeing someone far from God discover the love of God for them moves me to tears every single time.
While I serve actively in ministry, my job isn’t my greatest interest. That belongs to my family. I’ve been married to my incomparable wife, Andrea, for 23 years. We have three children: Hudson (turning 15 on December 27) a freshman who is funny and loves making music, Corban (turning 12 on December 3) a 6th grader who is witty and smart and kind, and Karrington (10) who loves art and music and is going to cause me severe “Dad angst” in the next few years as I fight off the boys. I love my wife and I love my kids.
In my free time, I enjoy reading, writing, hiking, working out, woodworking, and (maybe twice a year) golf. I’m also a foodie and love trying new places and trying my hand in the Kitchen and on the grill.
Through our past 23 years of ministry we’ve seen God do exceedingly abundantly more than we could have dreamed or imagined. And as we enter into this next chapter of ministry, we are once again anticipating God doing what only God can do!
Thanks for inviting us to be your pastoral family!
Grace + peace,
Scott, Andrea, Hudson, Corban & Karrington Marshall
