When a Senior Pastor resigns the pastorate of a church, the Church of the Nazarene manual requires that all remaining pastoral staff must submit their resignation to the church board. Your church board, with the counsel and input of our District Superintendent, made the difficult decision to accept Tim Pitzer’s resignation. This decision was made due to significant budgetary constraints that have limited our ability to directly fund the ministries of Wichita First Nazarene. Therefore, Tim and JoAnn Pitzer will be leaving their ministry at this church with their last Sunday being July 8th at their request. They are talented and Godly people who will serve God well in a new assignment as He reveals. Your board has provided for a generous severance package to ease this transition as they seek God’s direction. Please pray for them during this adjustment. Please understand that this decision was not made lightly. Much prayer, discussion, and considerable evaluation as to what is best for Wichita First Nazarene’s future ministry went into this difficult decision. We ask that you continue to pray for the church board and our DS Jim Bond as we seek God’s will for Wichita First Nazarene.
We have scheduled a meeting on Sunday evening, July 8th, with Pastor Jim Bond, our district superintendent, to update the congregation on the interim process and answer any questions.
In Christ Alone,
Phil Newlin, Board chair
